Aerosmith Sales Up Because of American Idol

Aerosmith’s record sales have spiked since frontman Steven Tyler joined the American Idol judging panel for the reality television show’s 10th season, which premiered on January 19.
The band’s 1998 power ballad “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” is currently at #19 on Apple’s iTunes chart, while “Dream On” – from Aerosmith’s self-titled debut in 1973 – has made it to #61.
American Idol authority Richard Rushfield, author of American Idol: The Untold Story, told FoxNews.com, “Steven Tyler is such a character on the show, and that’s sure to boost interest in his work. Just like we’ve seen in the past, when people appear on Idol, it gives their sales a bit of a jump … So far, Steven Tyler has been a pretty striking presence on Idol. He’s a wild character, and he’s pretty much pushed [former judge] Simon Cowell out of people’s minds in just two weeks.”
