Teen shot dead during bank robbery-Bank hostage drama ends as police kill robber

An investigation has begun into the shooting of a teenager during a suspected bank robbery in the United States.
Police in North Carolina say Devon Mitchell held seven people in the bank at gunpoint at the height of the incident.
They say officers killed the 19-year-old after he walked out of the bank holding a gun to the head of a female hostage.
Police chief Pat Bazemore says no-one else was injured in the incident.
"Everyone is OK... all of our hostages are safe. All the officers are safe," he said.
"The suspect is dead and we are right in the beginning of the investigation for that."
Mr Bazemore says he stands behind his officers' actions.
"Our negotiators did a great job with getting the folks out of the bank safely," he said.
"It is a very sad situation that we ended up shooting the suspect."
