Yesterday’s American Idol episode saved the best for last as auditioner Lauren Alaina belted out Faith Hill’s “Like We Never Loved at All” and left goosebumps on everybody. She was clearly the best out of the 17,000 people that auditioned for Nashville.
Originally from Georgia, Alaina had the emotional backstory and a bubbly personality that producers and judges are hoping for in an ‘Idol’. She has a cousin suffering from a brain tumor for whom she has organized fundraisers for.
Producer Nigel Lythgoe has been tweeting the world about his adoration for this 15-year-old gem of a find, saying that she sings better than Kelly Clarkson.
The episode ran the same as always, with screaming contestants, a former Miss Teen USA who made it through to Hollywood via a pout, a former couple who producers thought should audition together (they both got in eventually), a strange blue man without a face, and another judges’ favorite Jackie Wilson who hit the high notes of Aretha Franklin’s “Until You Come Back To Me”.
After Alaina walked away with a golden ticket, Steve Tyler predicted that they may have found the one. With 4 episodes into the season, it might be too early to tell. Or not.

I always like it when Idol gets down to the final 12.
