'Jersey Shore' recap: The fight with no winner

On Sunday night before the MTV Video Music Awards, we learned the fight between Ronnie and Situation wasn't a real fight. It was merely a push and a tackle before off-camera big dudes jumped in. No clean punches. No bloody lips. Nothing but a ripped shirt. And what about Mike going to the hospital? To get

psyched up and to possibly freak Ron out,  Mike tried to put his head through a wall. He had done it before, but in Italy, the wall was concrete. Mike earned a mild contasion and a more serious ego contusion.

Those tricky, tricky MTV producers. They've perfected the art of the quick-edit sneak peak, making the viewers believe ... no, swear that something huge is about. to. happen. Sunday's "Jersey Shore" was just another episode, with more Sam and Ronnie fighting and more roommates complaining about it.

What else did we learn? Pauly is a true friend to Mike, as he was the only roommate to accompany Sitch to the hospital. Jenni is a major reactor and she cares greatly about the house running smoothly. Ron still has an anger problem, and his preferred form of self-reflection is staring at himself in a gym mirror. Sammi will always be the girlfriend you never want. Snooki has no shame when it comes to talking about her masturbation techniques.

It's a running "Jersey Shore" theme: the show desperately needs to refocus and remember many viewers hate the Ronnie/Sammi relationship. Give us Deena on a manhunt, or MVP trying out pick-up lines on the Italian women — just please give everyone a break from the most toxic relationship on reality TV, even if it's only for a moment.

Anne Hathaway Responds To 'Dark Knight Rises' Catwoman Reaction

It was the photo that launched a thousand blog posts, tweets and message-board debates. Last week, the Web was ablaze when Warner Bros. released the first photo of

MTV News was immediately on the case, offering up ourown analysis, as well asthoughts from a few experts

on what the photo of Hathaway in costume, riding what looked to be Batman's motorcycle, meant for the character and her assumed transformation into Catwoman.

Now, in knowing how tight-lipped the "Dark Knight Rises" stars are sworn to be about the films, when we caught up with Hathaway as she promoted the upcoming movie "One Day," we didn't expect her to offer any commentary about the photo — but she surprised us.

"I was not going to admit it: I asked someone to send me a few reactions [to the photo]," she said. "And I happen to know that MTV's reaction was 'meh.' "

Now, we're not sure about the "meh" quote, but we will admit to using the phrases "cautiously optimistic," "unflattering" and "underwhelming" in our analysis.

Regardless, Hathaway said that no matter the first impressions, there is a lot more happening with that suit.

"What I am happy to say is, if you didn't like the photo, you only see about a 10th of what that suit can do," she promised. "And if you did like the photo, you have excellent taste."

Ronnie Has Day In Court From Season One Jersey Shore Fight

Remember during the first season of Jersey Shore when Ronnie knocked that random dude out with one punch? Well, the twenty-five year old reality star finally had his day in court, and all things considered, it went pretty well. He was admitted into what basically amounts as a deferment program. If he avoids any other

altercations for eighteen months, the charge will be dropped from his record, and he'll be free to go his own way without ever admitting guilt. There may or may not be some community service involved, but that'll be determined at the judge's discretion at a later date.
According to The Asbury Park Press, the victim of said assault, Stephen Izzo, filed a civil suit seeking monetary damages against both Ronnie and MTV, but that case has yet to make it to trial. There was a time in this country when if you talked shit and got your clock cleaned, you dusted yourself off and took the beating like a man. Let the record show those days are long gone. Honestly, I'm not condoning hitting someone in the face, but in my book, if you antagonize a situation and get popped once, you've got nothing to complain about, just a whole lot to be embarrassed over.
The fifth season of Jersey Shore is currently filming at the title location. Rumors have been swirling that this may be the last go-around for the original cast, but there's really no way of knowing at this juncture. In the mean time, it's probably best Ronnie keeps his hands in his pockets and his nose clean. Whenever they wander to far, it seems either Sam or the police wind up furious.

Vinny Leaves 'Jersey Shore' House -- FOR GOOD

Vinny Guadagnino has bailed on the "Jersey Shore" house and the show once again -- but this time, we're told it's for good.
Sources directly connected to the cast tell TMZ ... Vinny bolted from the house late last night after getting into an argument with another cast member. We're told Vinny was feeling "burned out" and went back home to Staten Island. We have confirmed that he is at his house in Staten Island right now.

Vinny threatened to leave a few days ago, after he complained of "being homesick." We're told the cast was able to talk him into coming back, but that didn't last long.
Sources connected with the show say Vinny has been a pain in the ass and no one will be getting on their knees, begging him to come back.
TMZ spoke with executive producer Sally Ann Salsano, who tells us, "We do not comment on the production of the show."

U2's Bono, Stephen Colbert Attend Judy McGrath Farewell Party

"You're gonna fly your freak flags forever," the ousted MTV exec tells a crowd of colleagues and friends.

Former MTV Networks chairman and CEO Judy McGrath bid adieu to 30 years with the company in style.

A star-studded crowd of about 50 that included Stephen Colbert and U2's Bono and The Edge gathered to see McGrath off at an impromptu party following the announcement of her resignation on Thursday.

According to the NY Post's Page Six, the beloved exec showed up wearing a laminate around her neck that read "Backstage for Life" and told her friend and colleagues, "I know you know how I feel ...

I'll send you an elaborate letter on Gmail ... You're gonna fly your freak flags forever. I love you badly, and you know where I live."

McGrath, an industry veteran who saw the Viacom-owned MTV Networks through multiple reinventions and helped develop hit shows such as "Unplugged" and "Jersey Shore," recently announced that she was stepping down from her position after 30 years with the company.

When asked about whispers at the party that Executive Vice President David Janollari would take on McGrath's responsibilities, an MTV rep told Page Six, "Judy chose to leave now because of the health of all of the networks. MTV is doing incredibly well, so we won't be making changes. David Janollari will continue his role running programming."
