Nintendo 3DS to support Netflix this summer

Starting this summer, Nintendo's 3DS handheld will support streaming of movies and television shows from Netflix.
Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime made the announcement during the Game Developers Conference keynote address in San Francisco.
"We really want Nintendo 3DS to be the next must-have," Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata said.
Fils-Aime also revealed a May software update will include support for 3-D trailers, starting with the summer blockbuster The Green Lantern.
The May update features bolstered Wi-Fi access as well, through a partnership with AT&T. The deal allows 3DS users to connect to more than 10,000 hot spots.
Nintendo is planning to launch a "short-form video service" for 3DS, says Fils-Aime, which will serve as a video channel for 3DS users.
The 3DS launches March 27. Game Hunters will have more details as they become available.
Update at 12:49 p.m. ET: Nintendo CEO Iwata says a 3-D Super Mario title is in the works for the 3DS. Expect more details at this June's Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles.
Update at 12:58 p.m.: From Fils-Aime: "Say you are away from home starting to watch a movie on the Nintendo 3DS. When you get home, you can go from the 3DS to streaming on the Wii to your big screen." Users will be able to start on the Wii and switch to 3DS as well.
Update at 1:52 p.m.: 3DS owners must have access to wireless broadband and a $7.99 subscription plan to stream movies and TV shows through Netflix, reads a statement from Nintendo.
The short-form video service will feature video game trailers, screen shots and short clips such as comedy sketches and music videos.
Nintendo will also launch a 3DS Virtual Console featuring titles from the Game Boy and Game Boy Color libraries as well as Game Gear and TurboGrafx-16 titles. Nintendo will also release some of their classic titles "remastered in 3-D."
As for the new Super Mario title for 3DS, it is being developed by the same team that created both Super Mario Galaxy titles for the Nintendo Wii.
